Sometimes a full-size dreadnought acoustic guitar is just too unwieldy for kids, or even smaller adults to learn guitar on. Here are two 3/4ths sized steel-string guitars that I recommend.
  1. My first recommendation is the Baby Taylor. I honestly don't like the name of this guitar because even though is guitar is smaller than a full-sized guitar, there is nothing "baby" about its quality and sound. It is a high-quality guitar and it has a rich tone. This is a guitar that I would personally love to have because I love smaller guitars with great sound. It is also very reasonably priced for such a high quality guitar that should last a lifetime if you take care of it. It costs around $300. You should also buy this Baby Taylor Hardshell Guitar Case to protect the Baby Taylor.
  2. If you want a cheaper yet decent guitar for the price, check out the Jasmine By Takamine S34C 3/4th size Acoustic Guitar. It is not going to be in the same league as the Baby Taylor, but it has good reviews and it would be a good-sounding smaller-sized guitar at a bargain price.
Whichever guitar your choose, you'll want to purchase a good set of guitar strings. Buy these Elixir Strings Acoustic Guitar Strings, Extra Light . They are light-gauged and easy on the fingers (for beginners0 and they least 3-5 times longer than normal strings because they are coated for protection from the elements. Along with a guitar and a good set of strings you will also want to buy at least a good guitar tuner (don't worry, I recommend one for under $10). You can find my recommendation for a tuner and other great accessories for you guitar on my guitar accessories page. I hope these suggestions help you.
