I have been using Guitar Pro for many years and I fully endorse it. All the tabs on Guitar Lesson Guy, and obviously all Guitar Pro files, were made with Guitar Pro. There are many reasons to like Guitar Pro, but the main reason I like it is that it has a looping speed-trainer function.
The speed-trainer tool is easy to use. When you have your tab (a .gp file) opened in Guitar Pro, you can highlight a section of the tab you want to learn. Once the section of tab is highlighted, go to the navigation bar and click “Sound” then click “play in loops/ speed trainer” (or just press F9). Then you will get the speed trainer dialog box and you can choose the speed at which you would like to start. After that, you can choose to which percentage you would like to increase the speed after each loop.
Again, the speed trainer is an incredible tool. You can try Guitar Pro 6 for free for 14 days. So give it a test ride by clicking the link. I recently became an affiliate of Guitar Pro because I regularly use and recommend it. So every time someone buys Guitar Pro after clicking on the link to the right, I get a whopping $5.
If you can’t afford Guitar Pro, a decent free alternative is called Tux Guitar. It plays the .GP5 files from Guitar Lesson Guy but it does NOT have a speed trainer.
