Tab (short for tablature) is a great way to learn new songs on guitar. It tells you exactly where to put your fingers on the guitar. Tab by itself does not tell you how to play notes rhythmically. However, all tabs on my website used in conjunction with musical notes to convey rhythmic information. The video below will help you to understand how to read tab. There is a great computer program called Guitar Pro that allows you to play tab on your computer. It is a fantastic learning tool. Guitar Pro is especially great because it has a function called “Speed Trainer” that allows you to highlight a section of tab you want to learn and start playing the section very slowly. However, each time you play the section you can set it to repeat a little faster. Guitar Pro is what I use to make all the tabs on this website both in .pdf format and in .GP5 (Guitar pro’s file format). Guitar Pro costs $60 but it allows you to have a free trial.
